AARP Compares Tuolumne County To “Echoes Of Appalachia”

The AARP has decided to showcase Tuolumne County as a place of “hillside hamlets scattered across the county: echoes of Appalachia”.

The video showcases trailers on junk filled property, dirty cats in outdoor cages (no explanation), trash dumped all over roads and various scenes of squalor.

The people interviewed discuss what little money they have, choices in eating dog and/or cat food, having to walk over a mile to use a restroom and how unhappy they are to be in Tuolumne County rather than San Francisco.

Words on the screen seem to blame the poor living conditions on the “closed mines and mills”. Dilapidated, antiquated and abandoned buildings on both sides of a road are shown.

AARP claims to be a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization for people over the age of fifty. They have a membership of over 37 million.
