The wife he was making reference to was his second wife, Marianne Gingrich, who he was cheating on at the time. Seventeen years later in 2012, Newt suddenly and angrily turned on CNN&#8217;s John King and said, &#8220;I&#8217;m astounded that you&#8217;d bring up my ex-wife&#8221;.</p>
